    drop arm removal

want to remove the the steering box droparm in situ - just wondering what's the correct dimensions for appropriate pitman arm puller- is it meant to go over the 2 lugs on the outside edge of drop arm or between splined shaft and top of drop arm.

Just use an appropriate size 2 leg puller on the 2 lugs you described. When you put some weight on it give it a tap on the side with a medium size hammer. That will usually free it if it is tight. Remember that the box housing is cast so don't hit it too hard.

    Hi matt,

i just recently had to do the same thing to my series 2 land rover.

i bought a pitman arm puller from my local repco store then using a grinder i grinned the opening out to 42 mm which fitted my drop arm perfectly
