    Getting Defender keys cut.

    For a 1995 Tdi.

Went to a mr minit and another similar place and neither has LR key blanks.

They tell me I need to go to an automotive locksmith (whatever the hell that is) to get these done.

Anyone know of any places on Brisbane Northside (preferably around Virginia / Geebung) that does this?
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

I had the same challenge a couple of years ago. Only one locksmith in Adelaide that I could find and I'm sure he said they are hard to come by now as well. I bought three...just in case.

I bought mine of ebay for the 2010 Defender, just check the photo that the key looks the same as yours they were 10GBP each and I bought 2 with shipping of 4.50GBP.

I took them to Mr Minute and had them cut for $9 each. Check if the Mr Minute is a franchise or a company store, I went to a franchise store, I did get a price from a company store and they wanted $30 to cut each key.

The link to the store of where I bought my ones was
    http://stores.ebay.com.au/autokeyspe...p2047675.l2563

and doing a search gave me a few different types for Defenders

I used to use a master locksmith in Wooloongabba- they did everything - and sourced all manner of weird and wonderful bits for locks for anything I bought along. They are now (I believe) about five doors down from the Mater Misericordae Hospital on Vulture street. Forgot their name. Google 'master locksmith in woolloongabba' (sorry about my spelling- not sure that's correct) perhaps use 'Gabba'.

Not sure about the Defender, but for my D2 a while ago I got blanks cheap off ebay and then just took them to a locksmith.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

That is probably the easiest way to go if it isn't urgent.

Of course there are the two different keys - shorter door key and longer ignition key.
