    Hi

I pulled mine out years ago. Cracked and leaking everywhere. I think you have to remove the lot and cant take the top off with it in the vehicle.

I think there is some hidden screws/bolts in the passenger footwell. I seem to remember needing two people to put in back in which means they were not captive nuts.

When pulling it out, I don't suppose you would be so kind as to take some pics? I'm attempting to build my own custom replacement, but I haven't actually seen (or can remember anyway) what the County one looked like in the engine bay...

One thing I'm interested to know/see is the blower fan. How big is it, what does it look like? That's the part I haven't purchased yet.

What are the dimensions of your core? And where did you get it from? Or off.

Current brain wave is extending a std defender heater box and fitting a core behind the heater core, or grill side/ front of car.

So the box size is 230 X 255 high, it comes back from the fire wall ( just under the lip) by 180mm

Tape in hand estimate I think we would not run into interference with a turbo GT in my case, but the IHI are bigger. until about 300mm from the firewall.

So its sounding rather simple ATM if I can get a core of approximately the same dimensions. It also means that the County control will work with its one cable, the defender second cable we can delete with its flap and keep the original vacuum butterfly under the bonnet.

Must be all wrong sounding to easy

    The evaporator is 200mm x 205mm x 100mm from Speedy Air Spares.

I did price a second hand defender heater box from a wrecker in your general area, but I need some better contacts. The price wasn't great. As a result, I've started down the (more painful) route of fabricating my own. I could still turn back if a better route presents itself though!

AHH you need to get there other brother, his pricing is a bit more realistic.

may be in the wrecking notices.

on the defender heather there is a flap inside to move the air around or bypass the heater core, at a 100mm deep i think it would be an easy way to go.
