Puma Water Pump Replacement
Well, got the phone call from wife after 2008 Puma went into limp mode on the school run. After getting to the school car park noticed a significant amount of coolant on the ground. Topped up the system, kept eye on temp gauge and got her home (Puma, not wife) in one pice.
After getting it home I couldn't get it to leak like it had in the school car park, even with a fully system of distilled water...
But, after a good 20min stationary with the AC on and donk running at 2000rpm noticed a few drips on the underside of the power steering pump.
Still further investigation, I've concluded it is the water pump beginning to dribble although very very slow. Rang Land Rover dealer, Puma water pump is $580.00 ex-Eastern States (I'm in Fremantle). Had a good laugh with the LR Spares Parts guy on the phone and left it there...
Has anyone had a similar issue? Where have they bought a replacement pump? How much and where from? Genuine versus Non-genuine? How quick to change out existing unit with new? What about the genuine coolant, thoughts?
Learned knowledge from the masses appreciated in advance...

I think I'm revising diagnosis to just the gasket between the pump and block. Wiped the area down and can just feel a bit of wetness on the bottom edge of the gasket. All bolts on the pump feel tight...

Gasket part no; LR004389
LR004799 | Water Pump Assy 2.4L Tdci Def - Land Rover Part LR004799
$580 seems about right for the dealer anyway
.
I haven't had to change out the water pump yet, but did change / flush the coolant when I first bought the car. Think I used the red OAT stuff, I'll have to check. Just on my way to work so will look it up later.
Hope this helps, good luck.
Cheers, Ian.
Ah the top link wont go direct to the image, just click on lruparts.ru at top of page, then go to the timing chain picture at the bottom of the next page. Just find the right vehicle from the pictures on the left. The part numbers are all spot on, it's just the prices are all in rubles.

Thanks Ian, Just check on it again this morning and has miraculously repaired itself, but am pretty convinced it is only the tin (?) gasket.
