while it is the same part number do you know if they have the same mappings?

Might be wise to check I used Microcat
It was the same ECU on an early Puma when I checked
Personally you can't even compare traction control to a rear difflock, rear difflock all the way!! A difflock is 100% locked which is why you engage it!
If the P/N is programmable, it may well be functionally different. I.e you buy a blank BIOS and then program it.
Diff Locks are far superior for snapping axles too :D
That's why you always upgrade axles with diff locks, than it's up to the idiot behind the wheel!! In serious terrain traction control just doesn't cut it
I will beg to differ there... My first Disco was a fully locked, big tyred upgraded driveline machine.
I stopped using the diff locks because it was silly easy compared to the other vehicles I went away with.
When I traded to my Defender it had TC.. And I decided to enhance my driving skills rather than jump in with lockers.
Driving better lines and picking terrain made a huge difference and TC worked excellent. Until............... I changed brakes and pads....
Then it struggled...
So I found a better rotor / pad combination and performance came back straight away...
TC when used by people who learn the tech and understand it is formidable..
Diff locks might be great for comp type extreme but are they worth the $2-3K extra cost over good TC for most of our driving - even the serious stuff.
Yes diff locks are better but are they that much better on most conditions.
I have diff locks on one vehicle and TC on another and I say difflocks are not much better in most conditions.

In extreme terrain diff locks are certainly better than tc, without a doubt, however people's idea of extreme terrain may differ. I'm pretty sure u don't see comp trucks running traction control!! That's for a reason
Pretty sure I know of a guy who ran Torsen LSDs and TC on a 90 and was class leader in his comp days......
