Help! Performance woes 2.2l

Agree with all the "there is a problem" posts. I have owned a 2.2 Puma 110 DC for the past 18mths and 25,000km from new (MY2013) and it has plenty of oomph!

I don't tow a trailer/boat but have had the tub loaded up heavily and inside full of people and no issues at all cruising at speeds above 110kmh on highways for 3-4hrs continuously. Planting the loud pedal for overtaking, even on steep uphill sections crossing ranges etc., will see easy/effortless speed increases from 110 til the speed limiter kicks in at 145kmh. In fact the hardest part is keeping the speed down under 145kmh on good highway runs (like Kuala Lumpur to Singapore).

Thanks all for the input, but sending ecu's offshore to be tuned surely there is a better easier way?

Like I said hot and windy as hell with head winds most of the way home.
anyway back on track there is nothing wrong with the truck it being only into its 40k service a few days prior. and i have no complaints as to how she drives without the boat loaded or unloaded its a breeze.
I just really wanted to know what people were using, who they went to to have it installed and wether it was a good choice. It becomes a little tiresome being overtaken by everyone else on the highway, most with larger loads than ours..... granted that without a cover the boat may have been acting as a small parachute...

Mine did this for abt 10kms and then spat the chewie.

Had trouble getting to 100. Stopped, guage under 1/2, open bonnet and water boiling in radiator hoses. Oil cooler seal failed... end result? I have a new motor and Solitaire looked after me like a king (or a RR owner :twisted:)

If under warranty get it in asap. Mine only did 10 kilometres after a refuel and in that i noticed it was sluggish and then ...buggered. My new one is pretty AND runs sweet and they replaced service books etc so i have old and new and factory letter saying re changes.

Here's a link to drool over, as I suggested, I would be looking at reducing temps first, esp the air temp into the turbo first.

How about getting an ODBII, like an ultra gauge to see what it will tell you about your engine performance.

Realize your looking for upgrade info, this isn't and mine is a 110 not a 130. However, I tow this along the east coast from time to time and can easily sit on 110km/hr (though usually 105). Jan'14 returned from Gladstone to Brisvagus, unfortunately middle of day, 40?C into 15 to 20 kt SE (traveling south), humidity was probably a lot higher. I didn't feel I had power problems and was able to overtake a few times although timing was critical. From memory the intake temps on the ultragauge were in the mid to low 40's

You've had the inter-cooler hose recall installed and had the dealer check for leaks between the turbo and engine.

This was my first thought. SWMBO's 90 had a split intercooler hose (I think the recall was for the turbo hoses) and it began to lose power very gradually. It was so subtle to begin with we thought we were imagining it, but after two weeks we were sure something was wrong. It went into limp mode the following day. I'd get it fully investigated before dropping any cash on power upgrades.

Pretty sure you'll know if the turbo hose is gone. It make a ridiculously loud sucking noise, not only that you can see where the steering rubs against it on drivers side, very obvious. These pumas go ok standard but when you start towing or carrying heavy loads up hill or into head you can definatley notice the lack of power, and you end up driving with your foot flat to the floor. This is why I upgraded my 2.2.

One thing I've noticed is people down change too early,if you down change above 2000rpm you will engine brake and go slower.I towed my cub spacematic from Sydney to Newman and up through the Pilbara and the Kimberly many times and it didn't struggle along at 90 and it's many kilo's heavier than that boat,I'd do some trouble shooting first.
