    Recovering vinyl seats with cloth

    Happy new year everyone!

Ive been searching for cloth defender seats for a couple months now with no luck. So.....
Just curious has anyone removed the vinyl from their defender seats and replaced it with cloth from suppliers such as exmoor?
Im not sure if the foam on vinyl seats is the same as cloth seats.
Im sick of sticking to my seat and sweating like a pig!!

    Cheers
    Michael.

    Hi Michael,

Happy new year to yo too! I've done it back in the UK (Exmoor Trim) and in all honesty it would be worth replacing to bolsters (cushions) as well if you're going to pay postage. It's a PITA job though unless you have some upholstery skills (which I don't!).

Considered some good quality cotton canvas seat covers in stead?

    Cheers,

    Lou

    Michael,

The seat foams are the same for cloth and vinyl and as Lou says you should replace the foams at the same time if you can. Makes a huge difference.
The installation video on the web is good. Follow that and you cant go wrong.
The kits that come from Exmoor or Paddocks are comprehensive but dont include the adhesive as advertised. It is not allowed by airmail.
    Word of warning though.
Make sure you have a quote for the freight before you pay for the kits.
The last time I did it the 1st freight quote was 3 times the cost of the kits (retrim covers only). It is very expensive because of the size of the box they come in. Have a look for specials on Evilbay. They do come up regularly.
    Good luck.

This might not be applicable here but when i purchased my 95 110 the seat fabric was discusting, i was able to un clip all the cloth covers/vinyl backing and washed in the machine approx six times till the water ran clean and then put back together, i dont see how fitting could be any different for vinyl

    Exmoor trim re trim kit

    image.jpgHi.
I fitted a pair of Exmoor front seat trim kits. They where really easy, but I've had a bit of trimming experience, but really minor. If you follow the you tube vid it's good. A stapler works well too.
I ordered mine though Paddocks as Exmoor wouldn't sell direct for some reason. When I spoke to Exmoor the Guy arranged for Paddocks to ring me back which they did. And all went smoothly.
Re postage. I tried to buy in Australia but both companies I contacted, IMO just wanted to rip me off. With postage from the UK the kits came in ~$150 cheaper.
    In short, well worth it.
