i replaced all mine, when the new parts arrived they were britpart and had just as much slop in the new as was in the old, do your research and pay a bit more if you can get a better product, the stainless ones look nice but the cost doesnt.

G'day , I was wondering if any of you have repaired 110 door hinges , or can It even be done . My drivers side door hinges are worn out , I can lift the door up and down , not a lot but It is noticeable . The ware is in the pins . My question is can the pins be replaced ? If not I can buy new hinges , there not very dear , the point is my truck is metallic red , and getting them painted is the problem , Putting new hinges on will stand out like dogs balls . Any thoughts on this ? cheers . Jim

Just read this
Defender door hinge upgrade
Apparently later model ones are better?
The pins can be removed, and if, in fact, most of the wear is on the pin, you can make a new one (I have not seen any sold, but they are a simple turning job). However, you are likely to find that there is also significant wear on the hole in the moving part of the hinge.
The only solution to this is to either drill and ream this out and bush it (not as simple, but doable) or to go a little oversize with both the pin and the holes in both parts. I did my driver's door many years ago, using the second route, but I can't remember the details.
Despite the age of the vehicle (1986), I have managed to limit wear on hinges by oiling them every service.

Thanks John I was thinking along those lines , drift out the pin redrill up a size , the drift a new pin , maybe stainless . What I was wondering if anyone had done this , now I know you have . I'm surprised that no one has come up with a kit , It would have to be a common problem . Like you I put a drop of oil on them . cheers Jim ...
I think the usual solution is to simply replace the hinge, but as pointed out, this means repainting the new ones to match your paint. Not something many people want to do even if they have the capability.

Just about to do this job on my 110. Just waiting on some new captive nuts to arrive. Google defender slop free greaseable door hinges. On another o/s Land Rover forum there is great post with good how to instructions. Use a cap head bolt. Drill out top of hinge and tap thread in bottom part. You can also tap in a grease nipple. I won't bother with this bit.
