    Sill tread plates for Defenders

I was thinking that a nice set of sill tread plates might improve the appearance of the door sills on the Defender, and maybe even protect the paint. I've looked around and searched a bit but haven't found anything suitable yet. Anyone know if sill tread plates exist for Defenders?

They do exist, just depends what you are prepared to spend...

Entreq makes some really nice stuff, although "German precision engineering on a Defender" is a bit of an oxymoron!

    Thanks for that.
I suppose I could just buy some angle iron and cut it to fit. Might look a bit tacky.

I have rock sliders myself, but are we talking about the painted ali strip that the slider replaces and the one you covered, or the galvanised strip inside between the seat box and that ali strip.

The link to Entreq is for stainless steel replacement for what is called the tread plates.

    Cheers,

    Lou

I've already got steps. I'm talking about what's inside the door. The seat box trim just comes down and hangs there. I was thinking of something that ran along, covered the bottom edge of the seat trim and turned over the right angle to fold down, maybe held in place by the bolts which are already there. Just a thought.

I have often thought of this. Maybe the best way could be to get some aluminium chequer plate bent up to suit.

Considering what people spend on cosmetics and "nice to haves" I imagine $168 + P&P for these in stainless steel wouldn't be too bad then...

Entreq's stuff is remarkably well made and I'm actually seriously considering their stainless steel tailgate strip. Depending on P&P might throw a pair of these in, but cosmetics are reasonably low on the priority list at the moment.

I was in Bunnings on Saturday pricing stuff for a set of rear drawers I'm thinking of making. Looking at what's on offer there, I couldn't help wondering how hard it would be to use their aluminium stripping to make my own sill tread plates. I would have to measure it properly, of course, as most of what I looked at was the wrong widths. It looks like two sections of aluminium angle, each about twice as wide as high, could do the trick. One would be on top and fold over the floor. The other would be below it and fold down the side. Just thinking aloud.

I wonder if the thread about chequerplate bonnet tops could include sill tread plates?
