Garage for a chassis swap in Sydney

    Hey all,

Not sure if I'm posting this in the right place...

I've just bought an 89 County 4BD1 and upon driving it home from Tassy I've noticed some fairly serious rust in the chassis and think it may be up for a swap

Unfortunately I don't have the space to do the swap and was wondering if anyone had the space to rent out their garage for a few days whilst I do the swap or knew of services in Sydney.

    Thanks guys

If you need a chassis, Dervish has recently done a Perentie chassis swap into his Defender. I think he has the old chassis for sale. He did ithe swap at KLR Automotive in South Windsor.

    Ahh, here's the ad. http://www.aulro.com/afvb/driveline-...ml#post2300023

4BD1 chassis have different engine mounts than Defenders, although Monty at South Windsor has a Jig for fabricating the engine mount brackets.

Remember, swapping a chassis means that you also swap the Vehicle ID so you need the compliance plate from the new chassis donor.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Yes Monty is a private individual and LR enthusiast who lives very near KLR. However it is also likely that KLR have a jig also.

If you are swapping chassis, you can probably salvage your original mounts and use the jig to correctly locate them on the replacement.

KLR and Monty work together for a lot of stuff. Monty is a good friend of Matt's.
