Any ideas on what this plug's for?

Today I was looking at changing my fog light lens to a clear lens and hooking it up to the reverse light on the opposite side. That way I'd have two reverse lights.
    But then I found this,

It's located in the off side wheel arch, behind the plastic mud shield.

It seems to come out of the main wiring loom,

and I have no idea what it's for.

I've searched on a couple of forums, and am in the process of looking through my electrical manual, but so far no luck....any ideas?

I've already located the spare, fused, purple and black wired connector behind the rear offside speaker. This was where i was going to run my feed from to the roof rack mounted rear spot lights. It's just that this connector has me puzzled, it's probably something simple, but it has me stumped at the moment.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

Yep, it's the plug for the towbar/trailer wiring.
