I usually let my bonnet drop from about 10cm to make sure that the catch engages properly.

When you close it try pulling it up again, if it comes up you might not be closing it properly and need to try a little more force.

Baring that make sure that the mechanism isn't sticking, I had this happen on an older one and a good clean out and more lubricant fixed it.

A spare tyre on the bonnet should make it safe to 200kmh

Just drop into MR Automotive at Redcliffe and get them to adjust it,it should not just pop up like that,it is mal adjusted or out of alignment.

Usually too tight causes this. Back the adjuster off a couple of threads.

The catch mechanism get dry , and can fail to return . They like a spot of oil , the problem then is they attract the dust and dirt , and that can be a problem . Every now and again give a good blast with WD40 , Also It does have to be adjusted so It is fitting right !!..Jim
