			Help Choices & options

ok 85 isuzu, i run std front springs and bump stops with 60 series front shocks and dislocation cones. rear 1" longer shocks and puma compound springs. no sway bars.

intend to double up the rear shocks soon. shift some weight back to the front and reduce the wonder on sweeping cnrs.

i like this set-up is quite soft with over a meter of articulation cnr to cnr which is quite noticeable when puma's lift a wheel and you can see there traction control kick in. i still have all 4 on the ground.

rubber. i have been running BFG AT 12.5 33 15. it is what the county came with so i have stuck with them. but now i wish to explore options. at the price of rubber and rims and a slim wallet i am looking at mileage and durability. the BFGs i have cut side walls on SA finders rocks as well as chipped or cut off blocks. a rapid deflate of a left had rear on a right hand curve at 110klm a couple of years ago was a rather wild experience not to be repeated.

add to all that Minime is now nearly 9. he is not interested in trucking about looking at different rocks. he wants to ride, make friends and just be a boy. i suspect that for the next few years i will not be doing any hard tracks. more highway sand a few rocks and if unlucky some mud ( it is SA)

so what rubber should i be looking at?
any of these Chinese things any good?
change to 16" rims. or should i just go directly to 17 inch rims
stick with 33" or go to 35"

Most agree that 12.5" width tyres make LR's floaty on road. Even the difference between 285/75/16 and 255/85/16 was huge. So with regards to your sidewall mishaps, it was probably more to with the tyre size than a bad reflection on the tyre manufacturer.

10.5" wide seems to be about as wide as you should go for good onroad characteristics.

33" or 35"? With the use you are describing stick with 33 and keep driveline stress to a minimum.
