Defender TD5 with ABS swivel preload??

    All,
Its time to rebuilt my front axle - 2006 Defender TD5 with ABS.

I need to fully strip and replace the wheel bearings also, so the bottom peg will also be out.

Can anyone advise what the correct swivel preload is?

Ive read anywhere from 1.1kg to 7kg. Ive also read that the ABS preload is half of that of non-ABS cars, but nothing seems to say definitively what it should be for ABS cars.

Also, do the shims get spread equally between top and bottom pins (like the older series) or just shims to the top pin?

    Any pointers greatly received

    Thanks
    Jon
    Regards,
    Jon

The preload imo is not that important, as long as there is some, somewhere in the range you specified is about right, I aim for 5kg +/- 1kg

Just shims in the top, also make sure you check preload with the swivel housing seal removed, I used a fish scale
