			diff and gearbox breathers

Hi guys my 110 has had breathers installed, and have noticed they have been temporarily disconnected all hoses are in good condition and will only take a minuet to put back on.

my main question is do you think this is so the breathers are not sucking in hot air from under the bonnet ( when using as a daily ) and allowing it to breath cool outside air.

or does it not mater if i reconnect as a permanent mod, and this wont cause overheating temp of oils.

please let me know even if i am way off the mark thanks, Mick

Won't matter a bit what the air temp is for the breathers, more likely they have come loose of their own accord. They're not a flow-through ventilation system or anything like that, just there to allow for air pressure changes with temperature so oil is not forced out past the seals, or water sucked in with sudden cooling of river crossings etc. The only important issue as far as location goes is that they are above water if you do any wading. Might be worth blowing them through with compressed air before reconnecting.

Also best to have them fit as otherwise you could get dust into the diffs/gearbox via the breather fittings.
