Wiper Woes; keep hitting the bottom of the windscreen

Oftentimes when the wiper is on the high speed setting the wipers will rotate too far downwards and hit the seal at the bottom of the screen every two or three 'wipes'. It also occasionally happens either after wiping or seemingly at random while driving.
This rapidly destroys the inch or two of rubber at the end of the wiper.
Besides that it operates normally; usually sweeps normal area, usually parks properly, the only issue is that sometimes the wiper motor pushes them a little bit too far downwards.

My preliminary solution is just to attach something to the bulkhead which physically prevents the arms from overextending downwards, but I don't see this being neat. I'm also replacing the wiper relay with a Type 99 which may fix it.

Anyone else had this problem or have any solutions?

    Cheers, Niels

Much appreciated Mike, can't believe I didn't find that thread, even the title is pretty much identical!

you could always cut the bulkhead and lower the windscreen?

or- have you cut the wipers long so they hit on the 'far end /top" of the blade?

    just a thought

Best solution is probably just to buy a new car. Would solve all my problems

While that wasn't the problem I have actually cut the new set of wipers too long to act as semi sacrificial protection for the rest of the wiper.

    Smile Wipers parking

I just moved my wipers up a little bit, so when they park they park they're not horizontal but a little bit up, say 20 degrees from horizontal. It looks a little untidy but it works for me. It's not a BMW or Merc.
