Hi all, I'm building a heavy duty roof rack / roll cage for my 130 and are working out the best/simplest way to transition the bar work through the bodywork, same style as safety devices. I've looked at their fitting instructions and they cut a big square hole, I think because the inside flange plate has a built up centre section which just protrudes through the square hole, therefore when clamped to the outside flange plate the ally bodywork isn't clamped, just the centre of the flange plates.

Is this necessary to keep the bodywork separate from the cage, or could I simply just drill the four holes and sandwich the ally panel between the flange Plates?
