    Handbrake

    Hi All,

What would cause a handbrake that was fine, effective and properly adjusted one day the to next morning be stuck on?

Took it apart to have a look and it was clean (no oil).. had to lever the drum off however as it was stuck tight. With the drum off, I played with both the lever and the adjuster.. Turned the adjuster back a lot and got the shoes back on.. but have not taken it for a drive yet.. don't want to tempt fate and have it happen again.

Do the activators fail and stick on?

This is for a horizontal / early type.

    Thanks all!

I had problem after problem with mine, I adjusted it, oiled it, to no avail, so bit the bullet and put a new cable in! Should of done it first time!

Probably a broken strand in the cable that is intermittently jamming.
