Have ordered a repair kit, if you can call it that, consists of a spring and some rivets, will let you know how I go when it arrives and I get the time to attempt it.

    Thanks Brett
It looks easier enough, its just having the tool to replace the monster rivets that is my problem. Ellen

Ellen do you know any Plumbers , they all have pop rivet pliers , or any one that might have some . If you get it ready any Plumber will snap a few rivets in for you . That will save you buying pliers for such a small job !!.. Jim

I have pop rivet pliers here, can do up to about a 3mm diameter rivet, welcome to borrow these if they are big enough

Not a good idea to use an oil type spray on the rear door locks as it will only double the trouble by holding more dirt/dust in the workings Treat them mean and leave them clean! If you have to use the air compressor to blow them clean every time you do dirt road. Thats all I have ever done with the Disco and the doors on the deefer.

My repair kit arrived, might try and do it this weekend if I get time. The rivets fit in my rivet pliers, so if you need to borrow them for yours just yell

Finally got round to trying to fix my back door lock on the weekend, replacing the little spring wasnt as fiddly as I expected, got it all back together and it still doesnt lock :banghead: guessing it is something to do with the lock barrel but not sure. But, if the problem was only the spring then its not too bad a job, shame mine wasn't that simple.
Probably be another six months before I get motivated enough to try and solve the problem hell havent been able to lock the back door for several years now, what's a few more months?
