I understand your excitement. The first thing I noticed while taking one for a test drive for the stiffness of the chassis and then the amount of work needed to keep the thing in a straight line!
It was great fun and certainly different to driving anything else before.

For on road use yes, but I have an old series 3 for farm duties. When I got it it had a 2.25 petrol in it which I still have in the shed (good motor actually). I was offered a rebuilt 2.25 diesel for 200 bucks that they could not make run correctly. I took a chance and bought it. They had done the rebuild without changing the timing chain and it was stretched this was why they had issues getting it running smoothly. Now it runs great, but I cant imagine how anyone drove the old diesel engine on the highway!!! It is ssssllloooowwww big time and noisy too, but great for farm use.
We have an old hj45 Toyota too and an old F truck so I am used to rugged rides.
I gave up on getting a test drive in Cairns so it is off to Townsville as soon as they have one for me to try.

I am fed up of heaps of junk too, we will be doing a lot more travelling and the sitting position of the Nissan plays havoc with my lower back.

"Two Weeks", and you're "excited" & you haven't even driven one yet!!
All sorts of thoughts must be rushing through your mind, so I'm going to be very interested to learn of how two weeks of thoughts/excitement "align", when you actually experience, what will obviously be, one of the last of the Defenders, for the first time.
    Happy dreams!!, Pickles.

The 60 series has a heavy duty after market clutch, nothing can be that heavy (I hope )

I love the upright sitting position of Defender, perfect for long drives and backs. No other vehicle i've driven is as comfortable over long distances.

Just a thought I heard from a dealer today and Land Rover Monthly confirm this that June 26th or thereabouts is last day to get an order in for a last build regular Defender 90 or 110. Incidentally the day my new 110 should be arriving. So excited.
