    Puma 2.4 oil consumption ???

Did a "Search" can't find much regarding our little Ford engine's oil consumption, other than some "early" posts low km engines as nil; except for one with a litre/1000.

Mine is using 300-500ml each 5000km at 95 000km. Of itself not a concern because good engines are supposed to use a little. However, if all/most other Puma 2.4s aren't using any then there may be a problem.

So, how are they all doing out there?

    Cheers

    Rick F

I'm not 100% sure Rick, but I think mine would use about the same as yours. I'll keep an eye on and report back.
I've just done a change to which I need a little top up, so I'll be watching. But from memory, I've generally been down what I think is maybe about the 3-500ml at 10k service. Dip stick has never been very low when I've checked in between, maybe about half way-ish(?), I've not seen it low enough to top up anyway.

humm, bit of a revelation,,, as I was topping up my engine this evening, I noticed from the markings on the stick that I have not actually put enough in to start with, so right now I'm thinking I haven't really lost much at all. But time will tell as I'll now be watching very carefully.
On average, I'm pulling out just under 5.5Lts, which I'm sure is what I've been putting in. So this time I've put in 6Lts, so the oil is just under the high mark. Might see if I can get a pic of it tomorrow in the daylight, just so I've got a positive memory of where its at.
