130 Tow Bar Options
Hi all,
I have been looking into buying a tow bar for my Defender 130.
Does anyone have some experience with this? Could you recommend a few to me?

I have a tray back, had the standard LR tow bar for a tray back which a an extended port for the hitch so the ball in not too far under the tray. It worked, but also buggered departure angle a fair bit. So i sold that and bought a LR standard second hand 110 tow bar from Triumph Rover Spares. The port tucks in close to the rear cross member. I then bought an extended hitch which brings the ball back out from under the tray. I have lost 500kg in towing weight as the extended hitch is rated to 2500kg, car is good for 3000.
If you are considering a long range tank to replace your OE, than you need the tow bar with the square box cross member the runs under the cars rear cross member. I have the bent tube version that runs under the fuel tank. I wanted my version for departure angle, 130 overhang, and I'm not running a LR tank there. But the lads at TR spares know all about what you will be talking about if you go that way. It came with all the bolts, standard hitch, and ball $250 ish from memory.

I have a Hayman Reece one on mine , two flat plates along the chassis & the square section under the rear [ thought it was std ? ] Works with the LR tank & neat if the removable piece is out for best clearance . Done a lot of heavy towing , no problems .
