Thread: Broken Rear Brake Caliper

Has anyone out there broken a brake caliper?


I was up at Sandy Cape on Fraser over the weekend for the 2015 FICU and got myself well and truly stuck. After being recovered by another club member, also a LR Owner, I heard a terrible noise coming from the back end. I initially thought was just a lot of sand and crap in the brakes.


When I finally had a look, I found the rear right caliper had broken away from the mounting bolts. Further investigation showed that the lower mounting flange had been cracked more than 50% of the way through.


If any one else has had this occur I would be pretty keen to know if it had been reported to LR or even if it is a common problem.
