110 puma rear sway bar problems

    Hay all
Thought I'd ask this forums wealth of knowledge for some advice
I have a 2008 110 puma and every time I go off-road ( even the light stuff ) the sway goes bang and the left connecting arm rotates around hitting the bottom of the spring
It is not hard to fix only 8 bolts just annoying really
I have thought of removing it all together but I tow a heavy trailer during the week so though best not.
Can anyone offer advice how to solve this problem without spending a bomb

I have a 2008 110 and my sway bar bushes look a lot tighter than yours. Maybe you need new bushes.

They have been pushed out of shape when they rotate around. When I fix it they do go back to their original shape but maybe have lost their strength.
Thanks get someone to have a look.

Your aftermarket shocks are too long.

Actually, I've had the same problem repeatedly on multiple 110's with factory springs & shocks.

I don't think it's anything to do with the bushes. If your suspension travel is increased a bit, as Justin said by aftermarket shocks, the geometry of the swaybar is affected when the axle drops down. If you put a spacer under the chassis mount to drop the sway bar 30mm or so, it should prevent this happening. Have a look at the sway bar mounts that are fitted when long-range tanks are installed, will give you the idea.

I have got after market shocks fitted.
    Koni big bore adjustable ones.
When I brought the car they were already installed but the owner did not do much off-road.

Koni are usually good at staying within std lengths for their replacement shocks. As far as i know they don't do an extended version specifically for defender off the shelf. I may be wrong its been a while since i had anything to do with koni. Can you find some numbers on the bottom of the shock body and post them up here?. That'll help to id them and then we'll know for sure their open and closed lengths. Can you also check they didn't fit lower top shock mounts too?
