Sometimes that can be a better way to go, a lot of us have been guilty of reinventing the wheel in a slightly different form.

So I decided to make up something stronger. The $300 guard would have required a few mods to get it to fit with my alloy bull bar (that was bend too on the same day) hence my decision to make one - as I said, I should have bought it and made a few changes and I would have been ahead by about 1/2 day in labour - oh well, live and learn.
I remember that day, despite the evening at the pub with you & Simon that I haven't yet recovered from even though I was drinking light beer and you were both drinking full strength... I had forgotten that you'd destroyed the guard on that trip. So much for LR's standard "protection". What I remember from that day was your exhaust getting embedded in the ground whilst you were on "the can opener" to the point where your car wouldn't run. Anyway, I've now had my revenge that you won't know about until you've read the the PM that I'll send you in a couple of minutes...

Anyway, to bring this thread back on topic, you know you're a Defender owner when... one Defender is not enough!

When your neighbor the police inspector wanders over while you're washing the Defender and reminisces about how he used to drive a Landy when he was stationed in the bush ages ago and what a great old truck it was.

When you get stuck on the side of the road in the middle of the night in the country and you are actually able to fix the problem yourself to keep going.
