Oh indeed I do And a night and weekend job depending on what were doing at the time... (got to love the mining game)

Nothing quite like being on the job 24/7

Nothing too radical in that offset - May have been a manufacturing fault (incorrect radius cut into stub) or as I said, pitting, which I had on my D1 - it never got that bad but it did crack.

This guy Brett from Roaming the Outback has had to delay his travels around Australia due to stub axle problems:

    stub axle problems

I couldn't see the around Australia guy bit where he had stub axle problems, but in my view stub axle failure is its a rarity. We would have heard plenty about it on the forums by now other wise.
As mentioned by others there's slots of reasons why one could fail, apart from production fault. Unlucky about the Ashcroft CV. . .

In your "note to self", you could add "change to oil filled hubs". cheers simmo

Actually I was completely wrong and your view is probably valid. I thought he had a stub axle problem but it was the swivel hubs. You can see I asked him about it in the posts to this youtube clip:

NOTE: If you have any interest, you need to go to youtube and read the comments.
The clip seems to automagically embed here.
