    Reverse light staying on...?

    Bear (puma 110) 2013

realised the other day after towing my no. 5 trailer that my reverse light wasnt working..

I assumed reverse light didnt work because fuse was blown - dismantled car to get under seat to the bank of fuses and sure enough it was blown.

I assumed a short somewhere on trailer, and replaced fuse.. put new one is, car on (acc) put in reverse and walked back, reverse light on!
    Sweet!

Get to work and find reverse light is still on, and stays on until I turn car off.
wiring seems OK, nothing stuck in plug area, what now?

(I assume it will heat up until it blows the fuse again)

I'd be looking at disconnecting the reverse switch at the gearbox next.
It may be as simple as the switch is loose or is faulty.

The other thing is do have a reverse and live wire into your trailer plug?
It may be a broken wire touching across the back of the plug.

To blow the fuse it would need a high current draw, hopefully it was just a short in the trailer that blew the fuse.
    Cheers, Kyle

    Cheers Kyle,

there is nothing in or apparently wrong with existing wiring etc to rear plug or in fact any wiring Ive seen. I havent had a feel for the reverse switch and am not sure what it looks like or where exactly it is plugged so I may climb under for a search about for that. But I assume the reverse light comes on when a connection is made by gearstick selector?? so Id have thought if it was loose or came off it would not work as opposed to not stop working...

Im assuming the light gets that hot it takes the fuse out!?

thanks again kyle, any suggestions are really appreciated!
have you heard anything about that lift?

The reverse switch is high on the LH side of the gear box just below the LHRear corner of where the gear lever housing bolts on.
I tried to copy a picture from RAVE but couldn't get it to happen.

The reverse light can glow for days and not blow the fuse, I used the D2 one as a camp light.

I've heard nothing on the lift.
Sent an e-mail but didn't chase it up either.
To busy fitting cruise control and doing trips
