Diameter of rear lower shock hole

    Guys

Many of us have experienced the lower mounting hole for the rear shock elongating over the years, and welded/repaired that back to a round hole again.

I've just done this when fitting Terrafirma Big Bore shocks to the rear. These have a 14mm pin, which is larger than original.

I've since read stories of the lower pins shearing off as they can't flex enough in the lower hole. Removing the cup washers spot welded onto later models helps avert this.

My question is, what size hole was the original lower shock mounting hole as from the factory. My resized one is approaching 16mm, but I'm worried that may be too small to allow enough flex. What is the original hole size ? Anyone know ?

    Thanks

I found in the shed the original thin metal shim things that were between the rubbers bushes and the axle mount. There was one either side of the axle mount. These have a lip that protrudes into the axle mount. The lip measures in at 19.02 mm outside diameter.

The mounts sheer off of TF shocks because they are poorly welded onto lower quality metal (Chinese sourced shocks)...
