Its possible that this small component might be the culprit..
I hard starting & stalling out, but maybe surging could be a symptom ??
My fitting had black **** in it & hitting it with compressed air did not clear it. The "O" ring was fine though.
The new one allowed - by mouth blowing- just a tiny flow, but cured the problem.

yeah i have been through that a bit.. lots of talk about the modulator sensor which aint much good to us defender folks but quite a few point to the MAF as well.Quote:

does anyone know what kind of fault codes i should be looking for in regards to maf, and fuels system problems.. if i can get my hands on a nano that would help for sure, last time it was hooked up there were no driver demand error cods which led me to think the TPS was not the culprit but itd be nice to be able to rule out some other stuff too.
When my MAF was failing (td5 disco), it didn't surge, it just felt really doughy and liked to kick down the trans all the time. I only got a driver demand fault once.
To confirm MAF is the cause, unplug and run without, the ecu will default to built in fuel map, mine went like a train with the MAF unplugged, made more boost and was just awesome!
Perhaps u are getting fuel pressure, but not flow?
Fuel pumps seem to be problematic, as does every other mechanical part on LR.
Surely someone on the forum has a tps you could borrow to eliminate yours? Might be worth asking around.

Hi I don't know the answer to your problem . I can tell you I had a miss on my 110 td5 when I first brought It . What It was , was the harness that runs along the side of the head . Feeding the injector harness had worn through due to vibration , not much but enough to ware through a cable so that It was bare , and must have been shorting out every now and again . Touching the side of the block . I found It quite by accident , as It was no the blind side of the harness . It was an easy fix , just electrical tape , and a bit of sheathing . It's worth a look , the problem was up near the plug/socket that goes into the head . Like I say this may not be your problem but It will only take a few minutes to check out . When my MAF failed the surging was horrific especially on hill climbs you would give it a bit of accelarator and for a few seconds it would surge and then all of a sudden all hell would break loose lots of tyre spin, rocks flying and you would find your balls in the backseat. It was seriously annoying as each gear change would whip your neck. I have a BD chip in mine.Quote:
