Defender interior airvents blow warm air?

    Hi all,
Just bought Defender 90, love it. But the interior airvents seem to only blow hot, warm, or warmish air. Is this normal? If I want cool fresh air I have to have aircon on, even if its cool outside.

Yeah mine is a bit warm too, although not too bad.

They will always blow a bit warm unless you open the window a bit which makes them a little more usable lol

Might be worth checking that the heater tap is turning off completely in the engine bay. Mine has enough play in it that even with the temp knob turned fully to cold, the tap isnt quite closed.

    Cheers

Yep you need to adjust the cable so that it pushes the valve closed fully, this will solve the problem. The heater valve is located under the bonnet near the top of the firewall on the passenger side, there's a clip that holds the cable, undo the clip, move the cable so it pushes the valve fully shut then clip it back in.

Also get under the Defer and check the "connection" (term used loosely!) between the heater box and the air intake ducting, mine had a decent size gap so it sucked in hot air from the engine bay. I used some rubber foam between the intake ducting and wheel arch to wedge it closed.

What model Defender do you have? I guess the air ducting is different on different ones.

My bet is this is the issue. Was on mine and I've seen a gap there on every D90 I've checked under the bonnet. Hard to really solve without getting pretty serious but you can improve things a little with a little fettling.
