    Puma electric problem

Currently out of Broome and I keep blowing the 5 am fuse under the dash that controls the headlights, electric windows, the rear heated window[not that I need it ) and the main problem is,That I have no instruments at all. I have got it down , after numerous 5 am fuses to find that if I thump the dash just to the left of the instrument panel, under the right hand air vent, I can restore power or blow the fuse. It was working when on bitumen but on gravel and corregations the fuse would then blow. I have isolated the electric windows and headlights by removing their 20 amp fuses, so it appears to be in the supply side of a relay from the ignition to a relay or junction to supply power to these operations.
I don't want to go to the trouble of pulling the dash out in the bush but wondering if anyone has had a similar problem or a hint what might be wrong before I front up to a Landy dealer.

2 torx screws and good pull will see the radio/heater suround dash panel come off.
Mounted to it are the switches for the rear wiper, demister, air conditioner etc..
On the outside of the cigarette lighter is a back light globe.
The wire for this globe is a parker lamp feed, the same colour wire will be on all of the switches.
My money is one of them has rubbed through the outer plastic and is earthing onto a bracket.

The above is assuming your talking about the back lights on the dash, not the gauges themselves.
    Cheers, Kyle

Kyle, It is the gauges that are not working, but I suspect that is where the problem is.
