Changing the master cylinder on my 1998 300tdi 130 is a pain as the aircon line is in the way and I need to disconnect it, therefore I am up for an aircon regas as well.
Bringing up an old thread here, but im up for a master cylinder change on my 1998 300tdi also. It has air con. Do i need to remove the line to get the pedal box out? If so how do i go about it? Do i need to let pressure out first?

Don't know if you have to undo the line, never done it, but I do know that the system needs to be professionally de-gassed if you do. You aren't supposed to vent off refrigerant to the atmosphere. Well, that is what I believe.

Ah cool thanks mate. I'll try and put up a photo when i get a chance, but looking at it this morning it seems if the air filter housing needs to come out, then most likely the air con line looks like it would be in the way too

Is it a Defender or Disco ?

I was told by a local repairer that Series vehicles, easier to remove the pedal box, Defender easier to remove the master cylinder from the pedal box (because of the sound deadening etc.)

Did my 300Tdi without removing the pedal box, one nut & bolt was a PITA because you really need an assistant, I did it without but some swearing was involved !
