Yep, it's a common issue with CRDs and the Transit motors in particular. Changed mine around 10k ago - I had intermittent loss of throttle response, not sorry to see the back of that!
After putting up with rough idle and cold stalling for some time, I finally had the PCV replaced last week, drove the 130 to work today (120km round trip) for the first time. I was amazed at the improvement in driveability, it is probably better than it has been in all the 90,000km that I have owned it. The all-too-familiar low RPM engine rattle seems to be gone too, even though I had come to understand that this was normal for these engines. I'll be interested to see what the fuel economy does now.

I have just come across this in a puma 110. Intermittent power liss and check lamp. Switch off and on then fine for a bit. Towing 2t while this happens isnt nice!!

I once had loss of throttle response in my 2.4, stopped & had a look under the bonnet, at what? got back in & she was ok. What & where is the pressure control valve? I guess it's the fuel press. it's controlling. Ian
It's on the back of the high pressure fuel pump: Diagnosing Common Rail Diesel Faults - the Suction Control Valve - Baileys Diesel Group On Highway

So press. control valve & suction control valve is the same thing? Ian
Had the same with my 2.4 a while back.....sorted with a new Volume Control Valve......just need to re-learn the injectors after changing. (I had MR Auto do all of this for me)

After having one experience with poor throttle response, albeit 9 mths. & 6k km. ago, I suppose I should fit one before it lets me down. Are there aftermarket ones that are better quality or do we have to put up with orig. 'quality'. Transit part maybe?
