I think Southern's put it in an earlier build slot to ensure they have the vehicle before your nominated delivery slot. People are a lot less likely to complain about getting it early than late. Both of ours were early. We made them hold one as we were going on holiday and I figured I'd rather have the money in the bank than the car in the driveway as I wasn't going to be home to drive it anyway.
Andrew, congrats on your purchase ... being a 'novice' Defender 110 owner myself of just 2 mths, I wasn't prepared for the honesty and sheer driving pleasure this vehicle generates...the Defender 110 adds a whole new perspective to your everyday drive, somehow you're more appreciative of your surroundings and where the change in 'tempo' brings about an attitudinal change also....Best of luck !
Thanks Ulysses, I really noticed that change in tempo when I test drove the car last year. Not because the car felt slow necessary, but because I felt no need to drive quickly or hurriedly. It's a great feeling behind the wheel of a Defender, I'm looking forward to a lot more of it soon :)
I just found out my 110 is on the Tulane, by checking the VIN on:

It left Southampton on New Year's Day after being built on 21st of December, and it's ending up at Port Kembla on the 4th of February, since I bought it from a Canberra dealership. I'm going up from Melbourne to pick it up, and I just saw on the schedule it's going to be in Melbourne on the 2nd of February! Ah well, it'll be a good drive to get to know each other :)
Go home the long way, alpine hwy, then via Omeo :p
