My dealer told me last week my 110 was in the system to be built on Christmas Day, no doubt there'll be holidays disrupting the schedule so I'm hoping it's 2016 build now.
I believe MY16 would have commenced in July 2015. My my15 was built 7/7/14
Yeah, I mean build date rather than model year. It makes zero difference to the actual vehicle but is just then registered as a 2016 rather than a 2015.
Well, according to online tracking my car's ship (the Asian King) is due to dock in Fremantle on 17 January. My dealer is still telling me mid-Feb for delivery, but I'm optimistic that it might be sooner than that. I'm getting excited now! Less than a month to go.
Also, Barbagallo's has 3 used Defenders in its lot at the moment - all of which are listed at well above RRP. If they're actually selling at the prices that are being asked, then I've made about $10k in the time I've waited so far. Not bad!
That Asian King gets about as mine arrived in Fremantle on it back on 8th October. It will be well worth the wait.
I suspect that what people are asking and what they are getting are two completely different things.
The guy advertising the Heritage for $85k last updated the advert on 9th December with:
A month later and it looks like he's neither sold, reduced price or started driving it... :(Quote:

Maybe if he keeps it immaculate and doesn't drive it for 30 years...it might be worth $85K+ in 2046. But by then a new car will be $250K.
You've said yourself though that the Defender has always been pretty good value at $50-60k, compared to other 4x4s on the market.
Now that they're no longer available to buy new, there isn't the RRP price ceiling that there was before and the market gets to determine their true value. I don't think 70, 80 or even 90k is that ridiculous for a car like the Defender that we'll never see anything like again.
There are definitely some dreamers out there though, I don't disagree.
