It was a super gathering eh! My other half was even quite impressed!

I did not see you there... where were you parked!

    Pete :>)
So funny - my other half was 'so over it' after an hour - she mentioned that 'at least I will get some exercise walking around the vehicles" - as we met each person she realised we actually own a cool truck and I think she started to warm to it all.

Bottom line - we should have brought a picnic blanket - one of our dogs - a news paper for Bea --> and spent the day there - it is about Defender people getting together. I don't think we really set ourselves the right agenda.

Next time we will take a different approach and bring one of our loverly kid friendly dogs that is adorable (Bernese Mountain Dog) - and spend some time talking to people and enjoy the day in a really friendly environment.

We were parked at the far end of the Defender group - maybe 2 rows in and 3 in from the end.

Sadly - he is no longer with the dealer - there was some bad timing that meant that the handover was not with Antony.

That being said - I would not hesitate to use the dealer again as the people there do care about their customers - definitely a great dealer to deal with regarding the purchase.

    Cheers,

Ah right, I wasn't aware that he'd moved on. The service department there is excellent too, couple of good LR mechanics amongst them. It made me think twice about moving to Darwin with my Defender still under warranty, as I've heard less favourable things about the dealership up here!

Not sure where to post this - so I'll stick to My Newly Purchased MY15 thread.

I had a lot of interesting conversation with the better half before I bought the MY15 110. There was concern if it was going to be comfortable enough.

Beatriz fell fast asleap on the way home today - cleary the seats are OK and the truck is OK

Hi pat. I've been swanning around at the Expo and haven't been keeping a close eye on this thread. My question is what about the Axil Splines? do they flog out as well?
    Cheers, Billy.

Hi Col. Congratulations on finally getting your Defender. It looks great. Love the colour.
You made mention in your OP that you'd like a little more padding and or hight on the cubby box. You might consider getting an X Box or you could do what I did.
The cutaway is for unimpeded gear changes and it's lower on the passenger side because the Missus isn't as tall as me.
    Cheers, Billy.
PS I see you won the Show and Shine. Well done. I would have won if you hadn't washed it.

Thanks Billy for the post - can I get some more advice on what "you did" - haven't seen that option with the centre console.

My missus is not as tall as me (by a fair bit) - so this may work well for me.

The cool thing about the Defender is that there are so many options.

So funny - I didn't go there expecting the vehicle to be "judged" as such - I just wanted her looking good knowing that there were not many 110 that have that colour (especially with metalic paint).

So lucky for me I have kept her clean - considering the few drives she has had have been full of bugs and light rain with dust!

    So glad I washed her

That was a custom job Col. I designed it and my Brother ( An Auto Trimmer ), made it. It only took two hours to do. We just stripped the trim off the lid which is made of MDF. Then he sculpted the shape I wanted from a nice dense foam, cut and stitched the leather and stapled it all to the lid. Bob's your uncle. Actually he's my Brother.
Bob's in Toowoomba so probably not an option for you. If you know a good trimmer, feel free to use the idea. That goes for anyone.
    Cheers, Billy.

The gentle hum of engine and transmission & mud tyres in the background can be sophoric
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

Thumbs up expo and also centre cubby box

    Hi Col,
agree re Expo--had a lot of fun and enjoyed the motorkhana events on the Sat too--hope more next time. Re centre cubby box which some find too low, as mentioned if you want to go E box ok but we simply made a second opening box on the top using the original lid and had it trimmed to match--so now a top and bottom opening compartment and super arm rest--so much nicer to drive and if done properly will not interfere with gear stick--ours trimmed by Liam's Trim in Wilberforce.
