    A Defender with No Name

    So I get to pick my 110 up from the dealership this afternoon, and for the last few days my mind has been plagued repeatedly with one question;

"What do I name my Defender?"

How do you guys and girls normally go about this? Do you name them immediately? Do you wait a little while to name them?

    What's the go?

You may wish to wait for a while after picking it up.
I would suggest to you, that after driving it for a spell, and looking at it, grinning at it, learning its funny "quirks" etc, your very own name, will "come" to you.
We've had some nice cars, never named any of 'em, but within a few days of taking delivery, we realized "she" had to have a name, so our 90 is named "Gracie".

    Agree with Pickles...

Depends on colour, your interests etc...

Our Tomb Raider Edition was Lara... The D90 (Icon 90 plate) is "Ike"

Another forum member got a SA rego and the Letters on the std plate are "BEN" so he is called Ben...

I like 'Ben'. You could even say it's a tribute to one of our country's great Defenders, Corporal Ben Roberts-Smith

I think it'll be a case of wait and see though. As a future 110 owner, I'm still not sure if my truck is going to be a boy or a girl, let alone what to name it.

I had to work out the gender first.....then the name came swiftly.

Take your time. You don't want to call it 'Marybelle' only to realise it's actually a 'Gordon'.

Mine was named by friends, so went nameless for some months. Didn't help that I nearly rolled it down Six Mile Ridge Tk (would have rolled for a while too...). So "Rolf" became "Rollolf" for a little while.

The name, if it even has one, will turn up one day

I agree with previous posters that you should not be in a rush. Sorting out gender is enough of a problem. But saying that my not yet arrived Heritage is already Hugh, after his number plate. But the RRC I have had for nearly 18 months is still nameless. The Series 1 is Thomas after his in built air compressor, & the 110 is Sir Raz, because first owner was a vineyard in Margaret River & Shiraz is my favourite red wine. Something memorable will come along for sure.

Prior to owning Land Rovers I had never named a car, and thought it was a silly idea, but they do all have a lot of character & so deserve naming & shaming sometimes when they misbehave.

I don't have a name for mine yet - and I am not used to naming cars so I will wait to see if something sticks.

When do you stop looking at it & grinning

The more I drive it the more relaxed I am with it - and the more I like it!

My STD Plate is PUU. I hate it when the kids call it Poo! We just call the car ROVER. I think it suits her.

Given the fact that your lovely new beastie won the 'best of show' at Camden after a good wash, perhaps you should name her 'Soapy'
