    Another snapped Bistein

So got a TD5 90 with +2" lift with Bilstein shocks, I've snapped the eye off the right hand rear shock 3 times now, Ive got airbag helpers in the rear now for towing but before that it still snapped the shock twice before. Today was the third time. Standard bump stops and standard mounts. Shock bushes are Poly all round. Any ideas?

No real ideas Ned, but the only difference from what you have posted is the use of poly bushes - whether this is relevant I cannot say.

We use standard bushes with Bilsteins on 2 110s and a D1 with no problems so far (over quite a few years).

When I was doing the numbers and working out what shocks i should run I found the standard Bilstein defender shocks too short for a 2" lift.

I know someone did a run of longer ones a while ago but i've not seen them for some time.

I would bet that your shocks are too short for the springs. The spring needs to unload as much energy as possible before the shock reaches max travel. ie, the shock should hold the spring in by as little as possible otherwise it shock loads the shock every time the shock reaches max travel.
