Help please - part number - rear brake pipe

    Learned friends...
Long story short, fitted new rear brake calipers on the 300tdi 110. PO had bodged the fitting going into the LHR caliper. Played about with a few things and ended up ordering a new pipe as it (originally) wasn't that expensive.

Found one via a local supplier, description and VIN range fit my vehicle. Part arrives - absolutely nothing like mine. Ring supplier and we both Google, check Microcat etc and keep coming up with the same part number: ANR2779.

This is not the right part.

Can anyone suggest a site I can try, to source the part number, or know the part number for the LHR brake pipe for a 300tdi 110? I know I can probably have one made but as I've already paid for this, would like to give the supplier a chance to find the right one - he's as frustrated as I am.

    Thanks
    Mike

Hoses & Pipes | Defender 1983 To 2006 | Braking Systems | Britcar (UK) Ltd

A lot of things changed around your model year for fittings, maybe have a look at the site above using your VIN number as a reference to narrow down the search.

E.g. Is yours an MA or LA chassis? Same salibury diff, but as far as I remember different brake fittings...

    Thanks Mike
That's perfect...and that didn't come up in my searches for "Defender left rear brake pipe"!

Very interesting. The link below is the bit I need, you can clearly see how the pipe is formed to emulate the shape of a Salisbury - and is listed as ANR2779. Mine's an MA.

    ANR2779 | BRAKE PIPE ASSY L/H/R DEFENDER | Land Rover | Defender 1983 To 2006 | Britcar (UK) Ltd

So it would seem the part number is correct, but some local and overseas suppliers, including LR Aus, have applied that part number to the wrong item. The bit I received would suit a diff with a T-piece in the centre of the diff, perhaps it's for vehicles that had the Rover diff at the back.

I'll send this to the supplier, but if the part is numbered incorrectly, he should have fun tracking down the right item!
    Thanks again

    Re: my post....
I wasn't thinking properly when I wrote it asking you if you had an LA or MA chassis...
LA chassis are 200Tdi and MA chassis were the first of the 300Tdi's.

I was actually thinking about a maybe an earlier Salisbury with the different brake pipes might have been installed....

Anyways, glad you found the info you need, I ran into the same issues a few years ago trying to get brake parts for an early 127 Salisbury that I converted to disk brakes for installing in a 90.

    SGB112390...Pipe-assembly, rear-LH..... Note (1) ............... 90"
    ANR2779......Pipe-assembly, rear-LH..... Note (3) ...... except 90"
