			Blanked electrical connector?

There is a a blanked 6 pin connector terminated to the plastic shock top mount cover RH of engine bay (2012 2.2.) Can someone tell the connector id so I can look at the circuit diagram to see what its for or if its useful for other applications

					G'day Grappler,

Off the top of my head, I recall that the six pin plug (should be a Bosch male BAK series) is utilised for the DPF equiped engines. It is a harness for the Lambda sensor on them.

Most of the 2.2 Puma engined Defenders in Australia didn't come with the DPF fitted, however I have seen a batch of 5 or 6 defenders that had it in Australia, don't know why these slipped through into Australia as it isn't on the specs for them....

Have a look at the heat shield over the turbo, and if yours has a plug in there, it doesn't have a DPF, if it has a set of wires coming out that should be encased in a heat shield wrap and going to the plug, it then has a DPF...

 Hope that helps,
 Mike.

If you feel the need to have something connected to it, you could always put the generic Bosch part in,
 Part no: 0258017119.
However it won't do anything except confuse the ecu that is not programmed for it and confound a Land Rover dealership mechanic who won't know what the hell it is.
 Mike.

A bit more on DPF's and why we're lucky in Australia not to have them on the 2.2's (except the few that I noted that I had seen with them on).

On page three of this link

DEFENDER2.NET - View topic - DPF removal - the facts

Pete Bell writes a few good comments on the problems with DPF's and the costs associated with replacing faulty ones, it's well worth reading.

Also Pete Bell has posted a diagram of the DPF system. It shows the cabling plug (no:25 in the pic) for the Lambda sensor that I mention in the posts above.
