    Defender front springs Question

    Hi All
Can someone enlighten me on the specs for front spring on a 130 defender? i have removed them over the weekend to do some work,to discover two different lengths and colour codes. Is this correct?is it to allow for the driver?(i might be a bit on the heavy side ,but they know how to hit you low!).Any clarification is appreciated.

    Cheers David

    Hi,

Yes, the springs are different lengths & colour codes. Don't feel too bad about the stiffer springs on the driver's side - it's more to allow for the RH bias of the diffs, prop shafts & transfer box!

    Here are some specs:
Part no Load Rate (Lbs/inch) Rate (Kg/M) Colour code Free length(mm) Free length(inch) No of coils Application (RHD vehicles)
    NRC9448 585 225.09 4019.46 BLUE - RED 386.62 15.3 8 110 front drivers heavy duty, 130 drivers front, 90 rear drivers
    NRC9449 585 225.09 4019.46 YELLOW-WHITE 376 14.8 8 110 front passenger heavy duty 130 front passenger, 90 rear passenger.

Alignment is a bit messy in the post, but if you cut & paste into Notepad or whatever, & line the figures up with the headings using tabs, all will become clear.

    Cheers,

    Lionel

Attached is a spreadsheet of coil spring data. Yours should be covered there and yes, front 130 springs are different for each side.
