Totally agree with you Pickles, they even drive in a very similar fashion, especially in pitch! The steering lock is about the same, the only vast improvement is the gearbox, 6 speeds & synchro on all 6. Still look for 5th on the old Series 1

Yes, the six speed gearbox on the later Pumas really is a MAJOR improvement.
We've just done over 2000k in Gracie,on a trip to S.A., & highway cruising is an absolute breeze, & the A/C is very welcome too!

I've just clocked up a total of 2000kms, and you are right about highway cruising, but how is your L/H mudflap holding up? Wouldn't be without aircon - better say that quietly incase some of the UK folk are listening in!

I find the six speed box really easy to use on the open road - I tend to sit between 5th and 6th - my motor is still new (3000km) and it gets stronger as I add more KM on it.

    Too right.

Mine has 5000kms now and everything runs better. Gear changes are smoother etc...

    OK karlz,
    A couple with his relies:

    older brother TD5 SirRaz.

    Uncle RRC 1977 Suffix D.

    Granddad 1954 Series 1 107" Thomas.

This Getrag box would be a nice addition to all of his relies.

    Very impressed with your collection.
    All look great.

+ The Xtreme has a great colour (replace the front springs)
+ The rangie looks very original. (couldnt see the queen though )
    + The 107!!! (embarassed - didnt know there was a 107, I thought it was 109)

Hugh looks the part in all the photos. The only thing out of the ordinary is the front vents.

Any chance you will show some pics grinding the vents open on Hugh?

The extreme springs are just fine for 325,000+kms. Good for another 200k at least.

The RRC is totally original & has recently clocked 42,000kms since new. The Queen prefers Defers.

The 107 is my favourite Series, & has a useful payload & lots of storage.

As for Hugh he doesn't need vents as he has the best aircon - much better than the RRC & TD5, which also has the vents.
