    Mud centre console

Those of you that have fitted a Mud console to your Defender how did you mount your stereo on the thin plastic of the console when there is nothing to support the rear of the stereo. I had a look at a number of stereos at JB's and could not see how the cradle supplied with the stereo can be secured to the console to properly support the unit.

    Thanks

Thinking the same thing. I am planning on going down that path in the future. I have just put in a new head unit and I was wondering how I would secure it in the mud console.

On mine I just cut the hole, inserted the carrier and bent the tabs to lock it in place. It holds up just fine (4 years) and I've given it a pounding.

The sides of the mud console cracked where the mount screws pass through but that's because they came loose on corrugations.

I would recommend using all the mounting screws provided with loctite and also some thin aluminium sheet siliconed to the inside of the panels where the screws pass through to add strength.
