TD5 Coolant Gasket - Re-use with sealant
Hi Guys
Had to remove 3x broken exhaust manifold studs and in the process had to remove the coolant outlet and gasket - nowhere in perth stock this item (LVJ000010), and Rovacraft are closed. Can I reuse the gasket with some sealant in its place? We are doing a 2000+km trip shortly after new year so need it to hold for that..
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Steve

At a pinch yes, if the gasket is still in reasonable nick, but I'd be keeping a close eye on it during the trip. Just choose sealant/gasket goo appropriate to fluid you are sealing.
I did the same on the jag the other week with an air inlet gasket, when replacing a throttle spindle bush. Used Permtex #3 aviation gasket goo.
Cheers

Using sealant is perfectly acceptable, run a file over the face of it to ensure its flat, its often the actual outlet thats failing due to corrosion, so if its in good condition it will be fine.
