electrical gremlins week; 95 Tdi circuit diagram

I had a couple of electrical gremlins this week. 1. Total blackout, related to to a bad connection on the back of the ignition switch. Sorted.
    2. no low beam??? parkers and high beam work OK.
    parkers/headlights on/off switch is good,
high/low beam switch is good, the contacts are visible and have 12 volts going to the low beam.
fuses are dead, no power there.
neither my haynes manual or land rover service manuals have a very good circuit diagram. showing the the wires from the hi/low beam switch, ( that stalk Includes the horn and indicators as well).

does anyone have a link to a good circuit diagram for 95 Tdi?

The airbag suspension is working well, I lower to 1950 for going to the shops I like to park under cover I'm worried about the hail damage.

also fitted my alloy wheels, ( maybe I'ma closet disco owner air suspension and alloy wheels.

The low beam problem could be the pink relay behind the dash cluster up against the firewall.
It is not a relay but a solid link. I think it is a fog light inhibitor relay position.

    Lightbulb no low beam

Thanks Jboot, I was hoping not to pull the dash apart again. That speedo drive cable makes it hard.

I'll check it out and follow some wires, I may have bumped something when i was fixing the bad contact on the ignition switch. Cheers simmo

Smile pink relay thing ;Jboots the man

Thanks J boot, the little pink "relay" box, has only 2 pins. the box was sitting beside the socket, it must have just popped out. The pins weren't engaging very well so I gave them a little bit of twist so it has better engagement with the socket. All good it took 5 minutes after I pulled the dash fascia off. easy when you know where to look. cheers simmo

electrical gremlins warn winch XD 9000

My old warn winch will pull in, but not pay out. the solenoids seem to be all working. I can hear them clicking etc. I'll pull the winch out and have a look,

has anyone had the same problem?

maybe time for a new one. I bought it 15 years ago and have rebuilt it twice.

    cheers simmo

Just because the solenoids are clicking does not mean they are working. The contacts on them that bridge the circuit when they engage could be worn/eroded after that long, more so if you use it a lot.

electrical gremlins week; 95 Tdi circuit diagram

Check the voltage at the winch motor while trying to pay out, and compare to what it is on the battery side if the solenoids at the same time. If motor is much lower then likely a dodgy solenoid, but if both are similar it could be an issue with the winch brake.
