It's on page 12 I think. For anyone else using their mobile phone with the app.

That was a bloody nightmare scrolling through pages on the forum app.

Andrew popped in here last year, so I've seen this one in the flesh.
    He's done an awesome job.

    Cheers, Murray

I beleive APT is working on a kit as well
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but I was of the understanding that an added internal roll cage is not legal in a road registered vehicle. Is this correct or not?
    Cheers,

Requirements vary between state - generally speaking it will need to be engineered.

What type of internal cage are you considering fitting?

I'm not planning to fit one, I was just reading the thread and noticed the talk about internal roll cages.
The reason I mentioned it is that I have read elsewhere about how high performance street cars with internal roll cages are often stopped by police and the cars are issued with default notices because of the fitted roll cages.

I read that it is because of the risk of injury to occupants from hitting the cages in a collision. If indeed that is correct then you would think it also applies to internal roll cages in other vehicles like Defenders. Obviously these issues would not apply for external roll cages.
    Cheers,
    Terry

The cages need to be a certain distance from occupants heads, and other requirements.
As long as they are engineered, they are fine.

How much would it cost to get an internal cage engineered, If it's a proper certified cage that passes all the requirements?

front hoops may be the issue

    Hi,
in my previous days with rally cars and an off road rally RR I had a full CAMS cage but rego got difficult if the front hoop was included--they did not seem to mind the hoop behind the driver ( padded and enough space)just the front hoop as they said it impaired drivers vision--have also been told an external cage must not alter drivers vision--so guess best to ask before getting one.

A mate and I went halves in a '74 RRC production class racer years ago and we couldn't get it registered in NSW with it's cage, like posted above everything we changed to meet requirements meant they found something else to knock use back,in the end we ended up with a padded roll hoop behind the front seats.
