    Puma turbo hoses (yes another thread)

    Hi all,

    My MY12 110 purchased new in Feb 2013 has just suffered its third turbo hose failure. Each of the three hoses has failed. All have been repaired under warranty. My question is, does Land Rover replace the broken hose with one that is the same or do they replace it with a superior part? I actually asked someone from Land Rover Australia this question after the second hose blew and he stated that the replacement part is superior. However my trust level is pretty low. Has anyone had a look at the their replacement hoses to see if it is a superior part?

    How did they fail?

    My understanding is that the latest upgrade kit has a bracket to keep the hose away from the steering linkages, hence preventing wear-thru and subsequent failure.
    The best way would be to replace the whole assembly with a length of steel pipe which can be flared and secured to with heavy duty T-Bolt clamps...

    Watching with interest. The turbo hose on my MY13 110 has just blown. Booked in to get it fixed on Friday.

    The latest version of the hose has a spiral wound metal coil encased between the inner hose and the outer plastic protection piece.

    There are two brackets, one bolted onto the alternator, one mounted near the base of the air filter box.

    Picture below of the bracket below the air filter box, note edge protection on the metal bracket (earlier versions did not have this protection and the sharp metal bracket cut straight through the replacement hose).
    Also note the extra space to allow the intercooler hose to expand under boost.

    However, I still have warranty issues with mine, and while its under warranty I haven't done any modifications to the engine or driveline that could even remotely go near invalidating the warranty....
    I have plenty of accessories fitted, but no driveline/suspension/power train modifications done.
    When it's out of warranty, the vehicle will get a complete rebuild, but at the moment a particular Sydney dealership is trying everything they can to try and void any warranty on the vehicle....

    From memory, the first failure was when the hose simply split from being under to much pressure. Don't know how that should have been possible at the time since I was driving on a highway at the speed limit. The second was the clamp on the hose was pinching it and eventually splitting it. And the last one came about as I was accelerating in first gear (very mildly I may add) away from an intersection. The dealer didn't really elaborate on the reason why.
