    Squeaking Noise 2016 90

As the title suggests, I've been hearing an occasional squeaking sound from the rear of my 2016 90 (under 2000 km's so far). This doesn't happen when braking, it tends to happen at slow speeds like when starting from a stop or in a parking lot. Has anyone else seen this? Any recommendations?

    I've never seen a squeak...
But I've heard many an odd sound coming from a defender! (Mine currently has a clunk when I turn left, and the weight unloads from the RHS side of the vehicle...)

It's still new, embrace the quirks of defender ownership!

If it still makes it at the first service (the one where they basically do nothing other than be all touchy-feely about your new car, making the owner feel special etc), then might be worth brining it up.
It's probably just a suspension bush or spring or linkage finding it's role in life, like a rebellious teen making itself heard before settling down...

Mine had the same thing that developed at 2k. It'll be the back door creaking and groaning as the body flexes. Take it back to the dealer and get them to sort it, or get a Rijidij carrier to get the weight of the spare off the door

Not sure about a squeaking noise - but from around 2500km I was definitely getting a slight knocking coming from the back door area ? I think it was the handle bouncing up and down ? mainly when doing the lower speeds down to the shops and over poor bitumen out here.

I have just had a Rijidij wheel carrier fitted and it has been solid since. Drove back from getting it fitted along the shoulder on some country roads and I could instantly tell the difference.

I can testify that the rijidij wheel carrier removes some of the squeaks and rattles too.

BTW it also turns the back end into something alltogether tougher.... the wife reversed into a 400mm diameter papperbark tree with mine:

you can see the little crease in the inner jerry carrier... that's all it did I recon the carrier paid for itself right there! would have been nasty otherwise.

But as others say, defenders have squeaks and rattles. Mention them at your services and some will be sorted out.

Thanks everyone. This is my 2nd 90, first was a TD5 back in 2003, so I've enjoyed the various Defenderisms before .

I'll see if I can notice whether it's the rear door or not today. For some reason it sounded like it was coming from underneath, and as I wasn't braking, I was worried about universal joints or something else that hadn't been set up properly from the factory.

I'll keep an ear out and hopefully it either disappears with age or I figure out what it is.

The last straw before I bought the rear wheel carrier was when I removed the spare from the door, I realised that it was one of the rattles and couldn't bring myself to put it back there.

"Squeaking"?...Could it be a slightly dragging brake caliper rubbing against your disc, hit the brake & see if it disappears?

After driving in to work this morning it does indeed seem like a dragging caliper. It only ever happened after braking, and I only noticed it if I had to start just creeping along in traffic. Not sure if this is something that can be adjusted, or if some additional brake pad wear will help out?

I've been getting the noise more and more now. I don't believe that it's either the hand brake nor a dragging caliper. The reason is it only seems to come on when I release the clutch and power is transferred to the drive train/wheels. If I come to a stop facing downhill and then just lift the brake there is no squeak. If I start off by lifting the clutch then I get the squeak.
