This is a good question , My td5 , has served me well , as did the County , So I was thinking of a replacement . I kept looking for quite a long time , in the end I bit the bullet and ordered a new one . My thought's to be honest were , What will the New Defender , replacement be like ? Will the new model be that much better than the last Defenders ? How will it impact on this models prices . Because of the time between the two Models I took a punt , and I'm very happy that I did . The progression of the Defender over the last few decades has only really been iterative, so naturally a later model may be more desirable due to the improvements made to reliability and comfort, without changing the fundamental car underneath.

The new Defender - being a ground-up rebuild - will be a different beast entirely. People will love or loathe the car for a different set of reasons to the original, so desirability of the previous generation may not be impacted at all. At best, if the die-hards hate the new one, used values may go up.

Heck, look at air cooled 911s if you want proof that better isn't always more desirable. They were pretty awful cars, but they're icons and they'll forever be desirable for it. I see the Defender in the same light - I'll never part with mine
