The clutch is probably the big one.
LR changed the type of clutch plate about 3 times before they found one that worked (I've had 3 clutches in 80k kms, the last one was noticeably the best)as the bonded springs kept developing loud rattles and even falling out of the wear plate.
Other than that as it's the first year of the tdci, I'd be checking to see if LR has service notices out for that vin number, there must have been a few recalls for various things Considering its a 2007 tdci.

When I had the clutch replaced on my 2008 130 last month I had no other option at the time but to get it repaired at a main dealer in Dunieden as we were on holiday at the time and speaking to the mechanics at the time they stated that the clutches fitted to the early 2007 and 2008 Defenders were prone to fall apart.

That's what happened to mine and he showed me the knackered clutch plate and the springs had fallen out of it and yes it wasn't cheap to get repaired but had to be done. I'll quite happily have a go at most things on my motors but this is certainly not a job that I would have considered undertaking myself as I don't have all the right tools to start with.

But I do love my Deefer.....

The 130 l am looking at is an August 07 build. So its one of the first of the PUMAs. My main concern is that as it has only done 15,500kms...any issues that might occur (like transfer case, clutch etc) wont have surfaced by now? A mate of mine had the same build and he had some major issues at about 50,000kms.

I have asked the seller for a list of warranty work done by LR.

Our 2009 Puma had only done 63,000 kms when we bought it a year ago and the service record says the clutch had been replaced. Other than that, it was mechanically original. The only issue so far is that the rear fuel filter had not been replaced and recently failed.
Yours would obviously be out of warranty, so I recommend you get a thorough service by an LR expert or dealer.
